The protests on campuses around the country remind me of the Vietnam era protests.  I have to say: good for them. I didn’t get involved at the time                   because I had already finished my college years.  I’m ashamed to admit that I bought into the rhetoric spewed by the Media.
We were told that we had to fight to save poor little South Vietnam from being overrun by the Communist monsters. All the Vietnamese wanted was freedom and “democracy” but actually the USA wanted to preserve their military outpost in that part of the world, like so many other places.

I joined the National Guard in 1963, mainly because I knew I did not want to spend 2yrs in the army. Yes, we had the draft in those days. Maybe that is why many students joined in the protests of that era. Guess what? There is no draft today and the college kids are still protesting. They must understand right from wrong.
