More On Palestine

Let’s look at a short history of the land we call Palestine as it relates to the current conflict. I mean like a basic outline. I’m not a historian, but I am familiar with some basic facts. Maybe some young people, who spend all their time looking at their phone, could get a better overall understanding of the conflict.

A condensed but relevant history of Palestine related to the current conflict must go back to before WW1 ( I wonder how many knew this). Actually, you need to go back around 2000 yrs or more to put it in proper perspective.

2000 yrs ago and more, the Roman Empire controlled most of the known world, including the land we call Palestine. Tensions between the Romans and the Jews who lived there erupted into wars between the years 66AD to 135AD. The Jews were eventually defeated and forced to vacate the land. They then dispersed around the world with many going to the areas of Russia, eastern Europe, and finally to western Europe and the USA (when it became a nation). Jews were then considered a people with no home.

After many centuries we get to WW1. Even before WW1, members of international Jewry decided to make a concerted effort to acquire a homeland. This was the beginning of the Zionist movement. These people went to Great Britain during the war and proposed the they be given Palestine for a homeland. What Great Britain received in exchange for this transfer is subject to question. The establishment story is that Britain would have the complete support of the Jews in the ongoing war (WW1). However, the other and more likely explanation is that the Jews promised to get the USA into the war on the side of the Allies (since the USA was not yet involved and had no reason to do so).

The deal was made and here is the famous Balfour agreement.

An interesting line is the one that says: ” it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine…..”

Another interesting fact is whether or not Great Britain actually owned the land that they were giving away. They certainly controlled it because in the early 20th century they kind of controlled everything thanks to their imperialism.

However, the Jews did not get Palestine after WW1. Some historical accounts speculate this was due to anti-Jewish sentiment after the war, maybe due to expanding Communism after the fall of Christian Russia to the Jewish-lead Bolshevik revolution.

They did get Palestine for a homeland after WW2, some 22 years later.

So an area in Palestine was handed over to the Jewish people and they were plopped down in the middle of the Arab world in 1948. The history from 1948 until today is beyond my pay grade. Suffice it to say that it was a period of minor conflicts and real wars as well as land confiscation by the Israelis so that today they control most of Palestine and the original inhabitants have been herded into small, fenced areas like GAZA.

Gaza is a strip of land, 5 miles wide by 25 miles long. The population is estimated at 2.1 million. That makes for a density of roughly 16,000 people per square mile ( and it is fenced in). About 1 million of that population are children. All of the humanitarian organizations of the world have condemned this situation ( all but the USA and its’ vassals ).

The evil and sub-humans you’ve been hearing about are not the Palestinians.

Now we have the hospital bombing in Gaza, where first reports said 500 people were killed. Both sides blame the other guy. President Biden (who often doesn’t know where he is at), says that Hamas is responsible. OK. I guess if Russia can bomb their own pipeline, Hamas can bomb their own hospital.
